Want to try AVA but want some help?

October 25, 2010 Leave a comment

If you’re new to AVA or if you’re new to competitive gaming in general then I stumbled across something that would be worth your while. If you want to try to get into AVA I would suggest going and at least skimming over dontrage from everStrive guide of AVA. Here’s the link if you want to check it out.

Here’s a sample of what it looks like.

IV. Mentality
…IVa. Mindset
The mindset is probably the most important part of competitive play. Have you ever had those days where you just can’t seem to play your best? You keep missing shots you normally would hit or make dumb mistakes? Most likely this is because you are in the wrong mindset for your temperament to be playing at your top game. If you just had a bad day and you jump on AVA, your performance is going to suffer greatly.

Confound: A Short History

October 24, 2010 1 comment

SFWC 2010 is finally here and the website has been launched. Next weekend Confound will represent USF in Daegu, Korea to battle it out with 7 other of the worlds best SF teams. This is the third year that the Confound name will be representing USF over-sea’s. Let’s take a look at the previous years Confound line-up’s shall we :p?

Confound SFWC 2008 China

John Park US_coN_s0ju AK-74 BerettaM92F
Vance Emerson US_coN_Epi M4A1 Colt 45
Jonathan Lara US_coN_Ownage M4A1 BerettaM92F
Matt Robertson US_coN_WiKeD M4A1 BerettaM92F
Rylan Bowman US_coN_Goat PSG-1 BerettaM92F

This was the year that Confound first exploded onto the scene and showed itself to be a dominant force in SF. When Epi first created Confound from the start it was a massive success. Beating nearly every team it went against. After experiencing some success the players of Confound jumped around to other clans such as inFate and Depraved before finally settling back down into the Confound name. During the process of switching clan names they also swapped out some players and finalized their roster for the 2008 Nationals. When 08′ Nats came around Confound destroyed every team they went against. It seemed as though no other team in North America could stop them, and going into 2008 SFWC Confound has not yet been beaten in any leagues or tournament matches. Perhaps this was also their greatest weakness?  Their 2008 SFWC run was short lived. Confound lost in group stages and received 7th(Last) place for 2008 SFWC.

Waiting for Genesis AD?

October 23, 2010 1 comment

While your waiting for Genesis AD we thought we would give you something to watch. This video was posted on ijji forums and we thought it was worth a watch. The intro last’s about a minute but once you get past that it’s pretty nice.  Hope you enjoy watching Grove’s frag montage.

There’s also been a few poll’s put up recently that we suggest checking out. Make sure to take a look @ GM_Pocari’s Competitive Game Mode and Player Limit poll and another_view’s Replay System & First Person Spectate poll

Genesis A.D. rumored for November release

GM_Pocari: Not to worry guys! Genesis A.D will be out in early November for sure!

When recently posed with the question

So why is G.A.D comming out early November ? I thought you said that the latest it will be released is before Oct 31st.

GM_Pocari responded with:

It was originally set to open in late October but there were some things that we wanted to change in order to make sure there were no issues during OBT and to make certain things more convenient for you guys.

It’s not official so the release date is subject to change but at least everybody has a general idea of when the game will release. So far we’re looking forward to the Genesis AD release, let’s just hope it comes out with some sort of demo/replay function this time.  Stay tuned for more updates about GAD. I’ll leave a  game play video for those who haven’t had a chance to play Genesis AD yet.

IJJI begins to plan next AVA tournament

October 16, 2010 2 comments

With so many game modes in A.V.A, how do we decide what type of tournament to hold next?  We ask you of course.

That’s right!  While we are busy planning the next upcoming A.V.A tournament, we want to find out from you, our players, what type of game mode you would like to see used next/
The next tournament game mode will be one of the four in this poll, so choose your favorite and hope that it wins.  Your four choices are:

[*]  Escort
[*]  Domination
[*]  Demolition
[*]  Convoy

So please cast your vote now for the next A.V.A tournament if you want to see one of these particular game modes played!  Voting ends November 1, 2010.

From the looks of it IJJI is beginning to plan their next tournament or possibly AVA FPS Season 2. Keep your eyes open for some info regarding their next tourney sometime after Nov.1 and keep your fingers crossed for a big prize pot :D! Hopefully they have another big prize pot and draw in some more competition into the game. I think it’s pretty obvious the competitive community will all vote for demolition but I’m hoping for a setup sort of like the Pro-Invitational tournament. If anybody recalls the Pro-Invitational tournament did a mixture of escort demo and convoy which made it pretty fun to watch. Anyways here’s the link to the poll get voting!
